Staffordshire ‘Communities Mean Business’ LEADER Programme (2014-2020)
The Staffordshire ‘Communities Mean Business’ LEADER programme is funded through the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) 2014-2020 under the LEADER Approach utilising money from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
The Programme is designed to develop and deliver projects to rural areas through community led regeneration.
LEADER has been a major initiative for rural development since its launch in 1991 and has allowed rural communities to play an active role in shaping their development.
Communities’ Mean Business is being delivered through a Local Action Group consisting of public, private, voluntary and community sector organisations. Between 2009 and 2013 the programme grant funded over 40 community based projects and awarded £1.12m to rural communities across the LAG area. Combined with additional match-funding, the total investment was more than £2 million.
